During eight years on SNL Morgan has performed a variety of recurring characters, including Uncle Jemima, Brian Fellow, African Andy, Astronaut Jones and Branden Alonzo. He left SNL in 2003 and made a brief guest appearance on Christmas show in 2011. Morgan is also recognized for the portrayal of Tracy Jordan on situation comedy 30 Rock. Jamal was born and raised in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Brooklyn, in a vast family of Alice and Jimmy Morgan. His mother was a home maker, while his father was a professional musician.
