Bidden was extremely popular among the electorate of the State and spent six terms in this office. For most of this time he was working in a Foreign Relations committee and was a Chairman of this division for the long periods starting 2001. Biden sought the Democratic presidential nomination twice, in the year 1988 and 20 years later. He was unsuccessful both times and had to leave the competition quite early. After he lost the race for presidential nomination in 2008 Biden agreed (although unwillingly) to run as a vice-president alongside Obama. He assumed the office in 2009.
